Non Destructive Testing

Magnetic Particle

Magnetic particle testing is a nondestructive test method for detecting discontinuities at or near the surface of material. This test is based on induction of a magnetic field in ferro-magnetic material and dusting the surface with iron particles.

Imperfections in the surface will create a flux leakage, causing the iron particles to concentrate on the imperfections, allowing the flaws to become visible. This test can be performed either visible or fluorescent depending on sensitivity required.
